Description
The VOM family of tools enables UML-based visual construction of component-based ontologies for use in collaborative applications and interoperability solutions.
Visual Ontology Modeler (VOM) for IBM Rational Rose, is an add-in to Rose that provides a feature rich set of wizards to assist in ontology construction, saving time and substantially reducing construction errors and inconsistencies. VOM is compatible with the Ontology Definition Metamodel (ODM), and supports import/export of XML serialized RDF and OWL, as well as Java generation for use in software development and a range of production rule engines, such as the Java Expert System Shell (JESS), Fair Isaac's Blaze Advisor, ILOG JRules, and TIBCO's BusinessEvents CEP environment. A library of ontologies (UML and OWL) covering a variety of metadata standards is provided with the tool to jump start the development process.
Visual Ontology Modeler for MagicDraw, is a second generation, ODM-compliant plug-in to No Magic's award-winning MagicDraw tool for UML 2.x. MD VOM will be available for download from the MagicDraw site in mid-2008. It is the first in a series of Eclipse plug-ins under development to support seamless integration with a broad range of Model Driven Architecture (MDA) tools and frameworks, reasoners, repositories, and other applications enabling semantically enhanced software development and application deployment.
