- 2. LC comments on XMLP Att Feature doc [from davidF]
- [Marsh]
- David: XMLP FTF decided in principle to take on the task of creating
a concrete attachement spec.
- David: Current thinking is that they will start working on it as they
have time left over from working on SOAP 1.2.
- David: Currently, last agenda item is this document. If there is time
left over, attachment work will begin.
- David: We are not attempting to synchronize the concrete and SOAP 1.2
Rec.
- David: Expect a separate Recommendation track document.
- David: Believe the current charter allows this (timeline
notwithstanding)
- David: Sent an email to CG on this topic (31 Oct).
- Hugo: WSArch made comments on Attachment feature, but not sure they
have all been satisfied.
- Hugo: Wants to make sure the comment about the Attachment feature
isn't lost.
- Mike: Chris (F?) and Dave (O?) have an action to draft a comment.
- Hugo: Comment is on a usage scenario behind a firewall, SOAP message
with URLs within the firewall, sent outside the firewall.
- Hugo: The description of the URI resolver for all this.
- s/URLs within/URLs pointing within/
- David: Attachment doc is on a separate track, comments can be sent
against the new doc.
- Summary: Comments are welcomed on the Attachment WD. This is a
separate track from the SOAP 1.2 Rec.

- 4. XMLP re-charter (timeline issue) [from davidF]
- [Marsh]
- Marsh: will make sure the last call was announced to chairs of the
relevant groups.
- David: Hassle to recharter every two months.
- Hugo: Sorry, we were in a hurry last time, didn't think about the
date carefully enough.
- Hugo: Estimate Recommendation plus six months.
- Hugo: When do you plan to go to Rec?
- David: Gated by implementation experience currently. Probably by end
of Dec we'll have the interop tests between implementation of each
feature in the spec.
- David: Doesn't appear to be leading to any spec changes. Lots of SOAP
experience already out there, and no implementers have complained
yet.
- David: We're really just collecting evidence now.
- David: PR in early January.
- David: No outstanding issues. IPR matters have disappeared - no PAG
necessary.
- Marsh: Attachment spec impacts ultimate timeline?
- David: Yes.
- Hugo: Perhaps set it to end of July (since Aug is free anyway)?
- David: What's the downside of having it too long?
- Dave: Can you make it explicit that the expected date is earlier?
- MSM: Yes.
- [Zakim]
- MSM, you wanted to ask about IPR / PAG and statements other than
wM's
- [Marsh]
- MSM: Recollects that there was concern about webMethods (not
PAG-inducing), but also some question about Microsoft disclosure.
- MSM: Seeking clarification from Microsoft AC rep?
- David: Appears to be a nit that is being addressed.
- David: MS is aware of it.
- agenda-
- Hugo: Who has the ball on the rechartering?
- ACTION: David to remind team contact to pursue rechartering.

- 6. post-SOAP 1.2 activities in XMLP WG [from davidF]
- [Marsh]
- David: Brings it up periodically, with various suggestions.
- David: Attachments always has come up, and is now underway.
- David: No other great consensus on what features to do. Not a huge
number of things mentioned anyway.
- David: Clamor has died down.
- DaveH: Any mention of WSA investigation in the area of extensibility
framework?
- DaveH: Generalizing the SOAP and WSDL extensibility mechanism. Might
need some XMLP help on this.
- Hugo: WSA has mentioned reliability as an area.
- DaveH: Simplicity too!
- Hugo: Is that shared by XMLP?
- David: Reliability would require chartering a new WG. Big change of
direction for WG.
- David: Do you mean WSCG should reopen its thinking about the next
topic?
- Hugo: XMLP can make suggestions to WSA on what's next.
- David: Thinks that discussion has lessened because of the existance
of WSA - discussion moves there.
- DaveH: How formal should the baton-passing from XMLP to WSA be?
- David: OK, will bring it to XMLP WG as a discussion point.
