The W3C10 celebration was held Wednesday, 1 December 2004, at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. W3C Members, the W3C Team, the international media, invited speakers and dignitaries attended. Speakers discussed the history of the Web, W3C's central role in the Web's development, and their visions of the Web's future.
Special room rates were available at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel for those attending W3C10 for stays on 30 November and 1 December; the registration page has details. These special rates expired on Monday, 8 November at 5:00 pm EST.
Attendees arrived at Boston's Logan International Airport airport code BOS. Getting to and from Logan explains ground transportation. Back Bay (Orange Line) is the nearest subway station to the Fairmont Copley. Due to Boston's major road construction project, the Big Dig, we recommended taking a taxi or public transportation rather than renting a car. For those who prefer to rent a car, the major car rental companies, Avis, Budget, Hertz, etc., are available at Logan airport.
There was limited Internet connectivity during the Tenth Anniversary Symposium in the room itself. Internet access was available in other parts of the hotel.
Several Web sites helped to make our stay in Boston more enjoyable:
Please feel free to contact local hosts and meeting planners Amy van der Hiel and Susan Westhaver.
