Actions and results

Increase European awareness and take-up of W3C work in relation to Web services:
- Talks in European conferences and events
- Outreach material (brochure...), Press Releases
- Seminar in March 2006
Technology demonstrators on:
- Using SOAP 1.2 and WSDL 2.0, on the popular W3C validation services
- Using combined Semantic Web and Web Services technologies (SPDL)

Actions and results

Increase European awareness, participation and take-up:
- Web Services Choreography Working Group
- Semantic Web Services Interest Group
Initiate work on a framework for semantics in Web services:
- Successful Workshop in Innsbruck, Austria (June 2005)
- Semantic Annotations for Web Services Description Working Group (created early 2006)

Standardization work supported

Web Services Choreography Working Group:
- European participation: around 50%
- Web Services Choreography Description Language (WS-CDL) 1.0 is a Candidate Recommendation
Semantic Annotations for Web Services Descriptions Working Group:
- European participation: around 70%
- First Public Working Draft published in June 2006
- Last Call Working Draft in September 2006

Goals for the end of the project

Web Services Choreography Description Language (WS-CDL) 1.0 expected to become a W3C Recommendation
Semantic Annotations for WSDL (SAWSDL) expected to become a W3C Candidate Recommendation
Ongoing discussions about future standardization around Semantics and Web Services, in the public Semantic Web Services Interest Group
More outreach, including a more advanced demonstrator for Semantics in Web Services
