- Description:
- This issue should be tracked in tracker. We've had proposals from the IETF GeoPriv working group to include a number of items in the Coordinates object:
* a time after which the location information expires
* a boolean as to whether the location information can be transmitted to 3rd parties
* a URL pointing to further policy details
* a human readable 'noteWell' string
Each of these items has been considered in various forms and discussed at the f2f and via email.

Matt Womer, 26 Mar 2009, 17:35:57This item was discussed intensely on the public-geolocation mailing list, in several phone conferences and during the face-to-face WG meeting in London on December 8, 2008. The conclusions of the WG, reached after the f2f meeting, is recorded at
http://www.w3.org/2008/12/08-geolocation-minutes.html
in the section "More privacy".
The WG is currently discussion the wording of the "Privacy considerations for implementors of the Geolocation API" and "Privacy considerations for recipients of location information" sections. The main ideas behind the GEOPRIV proposal (location data retransmission and retention) will be discussed in these (non-normative) sections. Please see

Sorry for the typos, what I meant to say was "The conclusion (i.e. not conclusionS) of the WG, reached after the f2f meeting, is recorded at ...". and "the WG is currently discussing (not discussion) ...".
