一份文擋並不需要單個樣式表。你可以給它一個預設的樣式，並從中為讀者提供幾種選擇，比如說，本頁擁有所有的W3C 的核心樣式, 以及其它網路上找到的兩個樣式表(作者: David Baron來做為"交替樣式"。).
至於讀者如何選擇"交替樣式"則是取決於流覽器。雖然暫時並不是所有的流覽器對此都提供功能表，但有很多都會提供功能表，比如說，在Opera， Internet Explorer 和 火狐Firefox等流覽器裡面，你可以在"檢視"目錄下方找到不同樣式。從二零一二年開始，Chrome要求安裝擴展程式(例如： Decklin Foster's Style Chooser).
如要把額外的樣式表也包括在裡面，則在頁頭處添加更多的<LINK> 元素便可，而且要用對REL和TITLE的屬性，就象以下所表示的。（我把某些樣式拿掉了；見本文檔的資源以得到更多連結。）
